60-Year-Old Clayton Man Arrested for Drug Distribution

CLAYTON, DE – The Delaware State Police have arrested 60-year-old Homer Coffman of Clayton, Delaware, on drug-related charges. The arrest came on the heels of a search warrant executed at a residence on the 2000 block of Downs Chapel Road in Clayton.

The arrest took place on October 16, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., conducted by Kent County Governor’s Task Force Detectives. Coffman was suspected in a two-month long investigation for large-scale narcotics distribution and was taken into custody without incident.

A search warrant led to the discovery of 52.7 grams of crystal methamphetamine, approximately $2,280 in suspected drug dealing proceeds, and various drug paraphernalia including digital scales and distribution/packaging materials. The haul was described as a serious level of involvement in drug distribution by authorities.

Coffman has been charged with multiple felonies: Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance Tier 3 Quantity and Possession of a Controlled Substance Tier 3 Quantity. He is also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. These charges suggest that Coffman was operating a sizable drug operation, at least according to the state police.

Following his arrest, Coffman was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and has been committed to Sussex Correctional Institution. His bond has been set at $120,200.
