Buffalo Man Charged for Death in High Speed Crash

ERIE COUNTY, NY – Guillermo Morales, 52, of Buffalo, was arraigned on Thursday before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek.

Morales has been indicted on multiple charges, including Aggravated Vehicular Homicide.

On Saturday, August 12, at approximately 3:06 a.m., Morales, allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs, caused a collision on the I-190 near the Scajaquada Expressway.

He is accused of driving on the wrong side of the highway, resulting in a head-on collision with another vehicle. The other driver, Matthew J. Czop, 38, of Tonawanda, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Morales, who was also found with suspected cocaine, is scheduled to return on Thursday, November 2, at 10:00 a.m. If convicted of the primary charge, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
