Overnight Shooting at Food Fair Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

PATERSON, NJ — A 32-year-old man survived a facial gunshot wound, while a second victim died following an early morning shooting at Food Fair on Market Street.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Oct. 22, gunfire broke out at the popular grocery store.

The injured man was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center and is in stable condition, according to a joint statement from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi.

The second victim was taken to the same hospital in a private vehicle and was pronounced dead upon arrival. This marks the city’s 15th homicide this year and the sixth in October. By this time last year, the city had recorded 22 homicides.

The authorities have not released the name or age of the deceased victim. No information has been provided about any suspects or arrests, and a motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
