OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – Walter Maxim, a 44-year-old resident of Beachwood, was charged on Tuesday, with offenses including Bias Intimidation, Terroristic Threats, and Harassment. The charges were announced by First Assistant Prosecutor Michael T. Nolan, Jr.
A person came forward to the Beachwood Police Department on Monday, stating that they and their family had been the target of bias-related threats.
The victim revealed that his son, attending school outside New Jersey, was acquainted with Maxim’s family.
From July onwards, Maxim allegedly sent multiple text messages containing racial slurs and threats to the victim’s son. Despite requests to stop, the messages persisted.
On the following day, Maxim was apprehended at his home without any complications. He is currently detained at the Ocean County Jail, awaiting a detention hearing.
The Beachwood Police Department and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Bias Crime Unit collaborated in the investigation that resulted in Maxim’s arrest.
