SAMPSON COUNTY, NC – Amidst a flurry of incidents, Sampson County Sheriff’s officials received reports of a gunshot victim at Pleasant Grove FWB Church on Casper Road around 10:32 a.m.

Identified as Justice Elliot, the victim was reportedly engaged in a confrontation with two individuals at another location when one of them drew a firearm and shot Elliot in the buttocks.

Injured, Elliot sought assistance at the church. He has since been transported to a regional trauma center with non-critical wounds.

Investigators are working to identify the assailants referred to as Elliot’s “associates.”

It’s pertinent to note that this incident is separate and not connected to other recent cases in the county, including the Garland Highway quintuple murder, the Leaf Lane homicide, and the officer-involved shooting in Clinton.
