Maryland State Police Seek Chrysler 300 in Fatal Cecil County Hit-and-Run

NORTH EAST, MD — A man was killed in a hit-and-run on Route 40 West in Cecil County, and Maryland State Police are searching for a Chrysler 300 linked to the incident.

Troopers responded at 7:50 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian lying on Route 40 West at Principio Pkwy W in North East, Maryland. Christopher Tavis Mayse, 53, of Conowingo, Maryland was declared dead at the scene by Cecil County emergency medical personnel.

Based on a preliminary investigation, Mayse was struck by a vehicle between 8 p.m. Thursday and 3 a.m. Friday. Police found vehicle parts at the scene, including a passenger-side mirror. Investigators confirmed that the parts are from a 2005 to 2010 Chrysler 300. The suspected vehicle is missing its passenger-side mirror and has damage to the front right side.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team has taken charge of the ongoing investigation. Authorities request that anyone with information related to the crash call the Crash Team at 410-996-7838.
