MILFORD, CT – A local liquor store suffered $12,000 in damages after a man broke a glass case and destroyed multiple bottles of Patrón tequila on Thursday.

John Reynolds, 56, from New Haven, walked into Total Wine and More at 230 Cherry Street in Milford just before 11 a.m. on Oct. 26. Reynolds inquired with staff about buying a substantial quantity of locked-up Patrón tequila.

As Reynolds waited for store employees to unlock the case, he beat on it, eventually shattering the glass. He then took some bottles and put them in his cart while deliberately smashing others on the store’s floor.

The destruction, including the damaged case and shattered tequila bottles, totaled $12,000.

Reynolds was arrested and charged with breaching the peace and criminal mischief. His court appearance is set for Thursday, Nov. 23.
