UTICA, NY – A motor vehicle accident occurred on Friday, at around 5:00 PM, involving a pedestrian on North Genesee near Oriskany St.

Utica Police and Fire units were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, a male victim, struck by a vehicle, was found and transported to Wynn Hospital. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The initial findings of the Utica Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team suggest that the victim was hit by one vehicle and subsequently by a second vehicle traveling in the same direction.

Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Traffic on N. Genesee St and Oriskany St was temporarily halted but has since been reopened. The New York State Department of Transportation provided assistance with road closures. The identity of the deceased will be released following complete family notification.
