CHEEKTOWAGA, NY – District Attorney John J. Flynn, alongside Cheektowaga Police Department Chief Brian Gould, addressed the rising concern of retail theft in Erie County.

Speaking at the Walden Galleria, they emphasized the detrimental impact of retail crimes on local businesses and the economy.

The Cheektowaga Police Department reported a significant increase in shoplifting incidents, with 1,268 calls this year alone. This figure surpasses the total number of such calls in the past five years.

Flynn stressed the importance of prosecuting offenders to safeguard local businesses and customers.

The DA’s office, in collaboration with the Organized Retail Crime Task Force, is actively involved in combating retail theft.
