ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Police Department has reported a fatal shooting on Tuesday night, resulting in a second-degree murder charge against 44-year-old Jacob K. Foskey of Roanoke.

The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on the 2200 block of Orange Avenue NW. Responding officers found an unresponsive man in the roadway with severe gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Roanoke Fire-EMS.

Investigations led to the identification of Foskey as a suspect. It is believed that an altercation involving the victim, another individual, and Foskey led to the shooting.

Foskey was later located by officers, who found his vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, leading to his arrest without incident.

Foskey is currently being questioned at the Roanoke Police Department. The department continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
