Fugitive Wanted for Murder in Elizabeth Captured

ELIZABETH, NJ – Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, alongside Elizabeth Police Director Earl Graves and Elizabeth Police Chief Giacomo Sacca, announced the arrest of Gerard Manning, 30, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on November 23rd in Elizabeth.

Manning, a resident of Elizabeth, faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He was apprehended by the Elizabeth Police Department without incident this morning and is currently detained at the Union County jail.

The incident under investigation unfolded in the early hours of Thursday, November 23rd. Elizabeth Police Officers were called to Mravlag Manor following a report of a homicide. On arrival, they discovered the body of 30-year-old Victoria Myers, also from Elizabeth, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A collaborative investigation involving the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, members of the Elizabeth Police Department, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit led to the rapid identification of Manning as the primary suspect in this case.

Prosecutor Daniel emphasized the commitment of the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and its law enforcement partners to ensuring the safety and security of the community. He assured the public of their dedication to pursuing those who pose threats to community welfare.
