A missing 72-year-old New Jersey man was found deceased in the woods of Upstate New York, confirmed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. The man, whose name has not been released, was on a hunting trip in Chenango County.
The incident unfolded on Saturday, November 18, when Forest Ranger Oldroyd responded to a report of an overdue hunter around 10:45 p.m. The man had been hunting with a group but failed to return to their camp, prompting a member of the group to alert authorities.
A search operation was launched, involving the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, Chenango County Search and Rescue Team, Genegantslet Fire Department, and DEC Rangers. The search concluded tragically when the hunter’s body was discovered by search crews on Sunday, November 19, around 3 a.m.
