Philadelphia Stabbing Suspect Fatally Shot by SEPTA Police Outside City Hall

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Gregory Skane, a 48-year-old man with an extensive criminal history, was shot last night at 8 pm near Philadelphia City Hall by SEPTA Police.

Skane, a resident of Broad Street Ministries at 315 South Broad Street, was identified as the stabbing suspect.

During the confrontation, seven SEPTA police officers engaged Skane, who was armed with two knives. Despite deploying a taser twice, Skane’s layered clothing rendered the device ineffective.

He was subsequently shot twice in the chest and once in the elbow.
