ISLIP TERRACE, NY – Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney today reported the guilty plea of Darieo St. Leger, 34, from Islip Terrace, for a first-degree assault committed in October 2022. St. Leger attacked a bouncer with a sharp object at a Huntington bar, causing permanent and severe injuries.

The incident occurred on October 23, 2022, around 12:40 a.m., following a dispute about entry to the bar. St. Leger slashed the bouncer’s face, severing an artery in the victim’s cheek. The victim underwent lifesaving emergency surgery at Huntington Hospital, including multiple blood transfusions and a subsequent surgery to reattach a severed nerve ending. The attack left the victim with a scar along the entire left side of his face and partial hearing and blinking impairments.

St. Leger, who fled the scene, was later arrested in December 2022 at LaGuardia Airport by the United States Marshals Service. On November 28, 2023, he pleaded guilty before Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft, Jr. to a Class B violent felony. He is represented by Jonathan B. Manley, Esq. and is scheduled for sentencing on January 30, 2024.

The expected sentence is 12 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
