One Dead in Shooting on Mount Vernon Avenue

COLUMBUS, OH – A recent shooting in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood of Columbus has resulted in one fatality. The Columbus Division of Police reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.

Following a ShotSpotter alert around 6:20 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and North 20th Street.

Dispatchers concurrently received a call about a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, who has yet to be identified, with a gunshot wound.

He was immediately taken to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m.

Currently, details regarding the suspect and the circumstances leading up to the shooting are limited. The Columbus Police Homicide Unit is handling the investigation and asks to the public for any relevant information.
