Woman Struck by Car While Waiting for Ride in Wall

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – A tragic accident occurred on Brighton Avenue near Romano Blvd. in Wall Township on Wednesday evening, resulting in the death of a local woman.

At around 8:24 PM, Wall Township Police were dispatched following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. The victim, identified as Georgina M. Stelman, 40, of Wall Township, was waiting in the street for a ride outside her home when the incident happened.

A 2012 Honda Pilot, driven by a 64-year-old woman from Oakhurst, was heading east on Brighton Avenue when it collided with Stelman. Emergency services rushed Stelman to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries about three hours later.

Sergeant Andrew Baldino and Patrolman Johan Moreno-Garcia of the Wall Township Police Department are leading the ongoing investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information or who witnessed the accident to contact the Wall Township Police Department at (732) 449-4500.
