DULUTH, MN – A 20-year-old woman from Minnesota, Allyson Sheffield, faces third-degree murder charges in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of an 18-year-old woman. The Duluth Police Department announced the charges following an investigation into the fatal incident that occurred on June 18.
According to the police press release, the investigation revealed that a blue M30 pill and a baggie containing crushed blue powder, both containing traces of fentanyl, were found and seized. An autopsy of the 18-year-old victim confirmed her death was due to fentanyl toxicity.
The police statement indicated that Sheffield allegedly delivered the pills to the victim the evening before her death. Additionally, Sheffield is suspected of distributing drugs to multiple individuals in the Duluth area.
Sheffield faces a felony charge for drug sales, along with the murder charge. Prior to this incident, Minnesota court records show that Sheffield had a misdemeanor conviction for speeding.
