Police Assaulted During Welfare Check

CUMBERLAND, MD – Cumberland Police responded to a call on Fourth Street and Grand Ave on January 10, leading to the arrest of 27-year-old Brett Michaels Andrew Will Bonner. Officers were conducting a well-being check when they encountered Bonner, who was under the influence and displayed aggressive behavior.

The situation escalated when Bonner attempted to provoke a physical confrontation and subsequently assaulted an officer. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault on police. Bonner is currently held at Allegany County Detention Center pending a hearing. No police officers sustained injuries during the incident.
