TOMS RIVER, NJ – As Toms River residents face another winter storm, Mayor Dan Rodrick extends gratitude to the local Police Department, EMS, OEM, and Fire Departments for their exceptional service during the recent severe weather.
The National Weather Service warns of a coastal flood warning effective from 6:00 PM today until 7:00 PM Saturday, with potential inundation in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Strong winds, reaching 45-55 mph, are anticipated from tonight through Saturday afternoon.
Residents should expect heavy rainfall tonight, with temperatures peaking at 56 degrees by early morning. Southeast winds of 15-20 mph will increase to 25-30 mph after midnight, with gusts up to 50 mph. The likelihood of precipitation stands at 100%, with rainfall estimates between three-quarters and one inch.
Saturday forecasts a brief chance of rain before 10 AM, followed by mostly sunny conditions. Temperatures are expected to drop to around 42 degrees by late afternoon. Westerly winds will persist at 20-25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. The probability of precipitation decreases to 30%, with new precipitation of about a tenth to a quarter of an inch.
