ORLANDO, FL – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the indictment of Kristian Ramos, 43, of Kissimmee, on charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Ramos, if convicted, faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison. Additionally, the indictment includes a notice of intent by the United States to forfeit a Beretta Nano 9mm handgun, which was allegedly involved in the offense.
The indictment, dated May 23, 2023, alleges that Ramos was in possession of the handgun. His prior criminal record, including felony convictions for robbery with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and robbery, legally prohibits him from owning or possessing firearms or ammunition.
It is important to note that an indictment is a formal accusation of criminal conduct, not evidence of guilt. Ramos, like all defendants, is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the investigation leading to the indictment. Assistant United States Attorney Noah P. Dorman is responsible for the prosecution.
