by Leo Canega

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Sarju Patel, a 39-year-old medical imaging technician from North Bergen, on charges of stalking, cyber-harassment, and harassment.

The arrest on Monday, followed an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit, under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Patel’s residence, revealing that he had created multiple social media accounts impersonating the victims.

He posted their photographs, checked in at locations associated with them and their families, and sent letters to a victim’s workplace, instilling fear of physical and emotional harm.

Patel, apprehended in Paramus, NJ, faces a fourth-degree stalking charge, fourth-degree cyber-harassment, and a petty disorderly persons offense for harassment. He is currently held at the Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance in Hackensack, NJ.
