NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Department of Public Safety is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Derrick Efford, 28, for questioning related to a robbery investigation. The incident in question took place early on Sunday, February 11, 2024, around 5:30 a.m. on Polk Street, where a pedestrian was robbed at gunpoint by two suspects described as Hispanic males. The assailants demanded the victim to halt, subsequently stealing his wallet, which contained $500 in cash, a debit card, and other personal belongings. Furthermore, the victim’s cellphone was destroyed by the suspects before they fled the scene in a red 4-door vehicle heading towards Newark Penn Station.
Public Safety Director Fritz G.
