Shooting Leaves Two Others Injured Overnight in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A fatal shooting incident in Jersey City on April 7th has prompted an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.

The event occurred around 9 p.m. near Central Avenue and Bowers Street, where police, responding to reports of gunfire, discovered two individuals with gunshot injuries. Both were quickly taken to Jersey City Medical Center. Freddie Posey, a 25-year-old resident of Jersey City, was declared deceased shortly after 9:30 p.m. Additionally, a 30-year-old woman from Jersey City received treatment for a wound deemed not life-threatening.

A third victim, a 24-year-old man from Jersey City, independently sought medical attention at University Hospital in Newark, presenting with a non-life-threatening injury. The authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
