Man Arrested for Threatening Woman’s Family with Shotgun in Long Island Home

Long Island incident leads to discovery of illegal weapons

OLD BETHPAGE – Police in Nassau County responded to a disturbance call at a house in Old Bethpage at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The call involved an altercation between Patrick J. Jackson, 54, Dorothy Scotto, 42, both of Old Bethpage, and Scotto’s immediate family members. The situation escalated when Jackson brandished a loaded shotgun, prompting the family to leave the residence and contact 911.

Jackson was taken into custody without resistance, and the shotgun was seized. Law enforcement officials discovered six illegal firearms, two switchblade knives, and numerous high-capacity magazines inside the home, contravening the NY Safe Act. Scotto was also apprehended without issue.

Jackson faces charges including criminal possession of weapons and endangering the welfare of a child, while Scotto faces weapon possession charges. The relationship between Jackson and Scotto remains undisclosed.
