Armed Suspect Arrested by Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputies at Local Bar

Hernando County, FL – Hernando County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an armed individual at Jersey’s Hometown Tavern in Spring Hill early on Thursday morning. Witnesses described a suspect with a firearm who was creating disturbances inside the bar and subsequently resisted attempts to be evicted.

Deputies intervened as the suspect was being removed from the bar, initiating a pursuit when the suspect fled on foot. After a chase, the individual was apprehended near a wooded area, where deputies detained him.

Deputy S. Derryberry and his canine partner conducted a search and found the discarded firearm and shirt. The suspect, identified as Steven Delaine, was arrested and charged with several offenses, including resisting arrest and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Delaine was taken into custody and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center.
