Maryland Man Gets 70 Years in Prison for Killing Roommate

by Local News Report

Silver Spring, MD – The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office announced that 24-year-old Andre Moore will spend decades in prison for murdering his roommate, Michael Sutton, during an altercation in their shared home. Moore has been sentenced to life in prison with all but 70 years suspended followed by five years of supervised probation after the conviction for Sutton’s murder in January 2021.

Prosecutors revealed that on January 18, 2021, Moore shot Sutton in the back of the neck after a verbal altercation turned physical inside their Silver Spring residence on Balmoral Drive. Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene, with Moore fleeing the home on foot before being arrested about a mile away from the murder scene in the woods between the residence and I-495.
