Lancaster, PA – A Lancaster city man has been sentenced to 3 to 7 years in state prison for his third DUI conviction since 2020. Jose Gonzalez III, 40, of the 600 block of S. Christian Street, received the sentence after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of .16% or higher.

Gonzalez III admitted to running a stop sign at the intersection of E. Andrew Street and North Street on September 22, 2023, around 1:26 a.m. Despite attempts by the Lancaster City Bureau of Police to pull him over, he continued driving for several blocks before finally stopping in the 600 block of S. Christian Street.

Gonzalez displayed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. A breathalyzer test revealed a BAC of .197%, more than twice the legal limit. The man had previous DUI convictions in Lancaster city in 2021 and 2020.
