Fatal Crash on I-495 Claims Two Lives, Injures Three Others

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland State Police are currently investigating a fatal accident that occurred this afternoon in Prince George’s County. Dorothy Skinner, 74, from Beltsville, was driving a Ford on the westbound lanes of Interstate 495 when the vehicle veered off the road into a wooded area near exit 27. Skinner was transported to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Loren Jones, 15, from Hyattsville, also died at the scene.

The crash prompted a response from troopers at the College Park Barrack shortly after 12:30 PM. Three other passengers in the vehicle were injured and taken to the same hospital for treatment. The westbound section of I-495 was closed for over two hours as authorities conducted their investigation.

The exact cause of the crash is still being determined by the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
