Long Island Man Charged with DWI After Crash Hospitalizes Three

SOUTHOLD, NY—A serious vehicle accident in Southold, Long Island, has led to DUI charges for a local man and hospitalization for three people. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, around 5:15 a.m., on Route 48.

Southold Police, who responded to the crash site, discovered a pickup truck colliding with a tree. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Nicholas Grathwohl of Peconic, and two passengers were found injured. All three individuals were promptly taken to local hospitals for medical treatment.

Following an on-site investigation, authorities charged Grathwohl with driving while intoxicated (DWI). The Southold Police Department, supported by the state police, continues investigating the circumstances of the crash.
