12-Year-Old Driver Hospitalized After I-495 Accident in Fairfax County

Fairfax County, VA – Early Monday morning, May 13, a vehicle driven by a 12-year-old ran off the side of I-495 near Gallows Road in Merrifield, Virginia. The incident occurred around 5:05 AM in the southbound express lanes.

The vehicle came to rest on the shoulder, and the young driver, who was from out of state, sustained minor injuries. They were taken to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment.

Virginia State Police contacted the juvenile’s parents following the accident, and no charges were filed. The incident led to significant traffic backups in the area.
