Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision in Wicomico County Under Investigation

SALISBURY, MD—A tragic multi-vehicle accident occurred early Sunday morning on southbound US Route 13, south of St. Luke’s Road in Wicomico County, leading to multiple fatalities. Maryland State Police reported that the incident happened shortly before 2:50 AM when Jay Richard Bynum, 59, from Seaford, Delaware, driving a 2013 Dodge Durango northbound in the southbound lanes, collided head-on with a 2016 Subaru Impreza.

The occupants of the Subaru, Dean Alexander Dennison, 21, and Sierra Rain Merchant, 20, both from New York, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger, one-year-old Grayson A. Dennison of New York, was transported to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital and later pronounced deceased. Bynum was airlifted to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for his injuries. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation, with the Wicomico County State’s Attorney’s Office involved and charges pending.
