Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash Reported on State Road

PHILADELPHIA, PA — A tragic hit-and-run accident resulted in one fatality and several critical injuries on Friday, at approximately 9:11 PM. The crash occurred in the 8th District at the intersection of 8400 State Road and Ashburner Street.

According to preliminary findings, a silver Nissan SUV (Unit #1) was making a left turn onto Ashburner Street from northbound State Road when it collided with a black 2012 Honda (Unit #2) that was speeding southbound. Following the impact, the Honda crashed into another vehicle (Unit #3, a 2017 black Ford Escape) and a utility pole, which became embedded in the Honda.

The Nissan’s driver fled the scene immediately after the crash. The Honda had three occupants; one passenger was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 PM. The driver and another passenger of the Honda were transported in extremely critical condition to Aria Torresdale Hospital by PFD Medic 47. The occupants of the Ford Escape, all three listed in stable condition, were also taken to the same hospital by Medic 17.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is actively handling the ongoing investigation into this fatal incident.
