Today is License-Free Fishing Day in Maryland

by Local News Report

MARYLAND – The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announces that tomorrow, June 1, marks the first license-free fishing day of the year. This day allows residents and visitors to enjoy recreational fishing without the need for a fishing license.

License-free fishing days are scheduled for the first two Saturdays in June and on July 4. On these special days, anglers can fish in both tidal and non-tidal waters throughout Maryland without a license.

While a license is not required, it is important for all anglers to adhere to the state’s fishing regulations, which include size and catch limits. These regulations are designed to maintain healthy fish populations and ensure sustainable fishing practices. For more details on these regulations, anglers can visit the Maryland DNR’s website at mddnr.info/4bG0DaG.
