Embattled Plumsted Mayor Tossed in Tuesday’s Primary Election

by Breaking Local News Report

PLUMSTED, NJ – Plumsted Mayor Domonick Cuozo and Councilman Michael Hammerstone were defeated by challengers James Hagelstein and Thomas Potter in Tuesday’s GOP primary election.

Cuozzo secured just 16% of the vote and Hammerstone 17%.

Cuozzo and Hammerstone had the endorsements of NJ 101.5 radio show shock jock Bill Spadea, who is running for governor in 2025. He also had the support of Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore.

The mayor survived a recall last year and has been under fire in the community.

Cuozzo, a local pastor, lost a bid to run for New Jersey Assembly against Jackson resident Alex Sauickie 69-29% last year. The pair were the only Ocean County GOP endorsed ticket to lose an election last night.
