Uber Driver Assaulted in Robbery Attempt, Suspects Sought

BROOKLYN, NY—A 47-year-old Uber driver was assaulted late Wednesday evening on June 19, 2024, when two unidentified male suspects attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The incident occurred around 10:18 PM in front of 747 Crown Street in Brooklyn, according to police reports.

The driver reported that after picking up the two men, they brandished a firearm and demanded his money and cellphone. When he resisted their demands, one of the suspects struck him in the head with the weapon, causing head lacerations. Despite the altercation, the suspects fled the scene empty-handed—one running east and the other west on Crown Street.

The victim sustained minor injuries and bruising from the attack and was transported by EMS to University Hospital of SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Authorities are actively searching for the suspects. The first suspect is described as having a medium complexion and slim build, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and black sneakers. The second suspect is also described as having a medium complexion and slim build, last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, black sweatpants, and dark-colored sneakers.

The NYPD is urging anyone with information about this incident or the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward to assist in the investigation.
