North Carolina Adopted Mom Charged for Death of Two Children

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Avantae Deven, a 63-year-old resident of Fayetteville, faces severe charges following the disturbing discovery connected to the disappearance of Blake Deven and London Deven.

She is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of concealment of death, one count of kidnapping in connection with London Deven’s death, and two counts of felony child abuse related to Blake Deven’s death.

She is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.

Forensic testing performed by a private accredited lab confirmed that one set of partial human remains found during the investigation belonged to London Deven. At the same time, tests are still ongoing to confirm the second set of remains as Blake Deven’s.

The Fayetteville Police Department and numerous other agencies continue to investigate the case, suggesting that further charges may be pending as they collaborate with law enforcement partners across multiple jurisdictions.
