Investigation Underway for Barn Fire in Huntingtown

Huntingtown, MD – The Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that occurred on July 4 at 541 Walton Road in Calvert County.

The fire was reported at 10:18 p.m., involving a barn owned by Michael Smith. The Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene with 40 firefighters and managed to control the fire in 10 minutes.

There were no injuries reported. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in structural damage and $125,000 in content loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the area of origin has not been determined.
