Bronx Street Shooting Injures Two Bystanders Capping Off Violent Week

BRONX, NY – An early Saturday morning shooting incident outside the Hawaii Lounge and Tapas Bar in the Bronx resulted in two bystanders, a 23-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, being injured.

The shooting occurred around 2:45 a.m. on E. 180th St. near Webster Ave., amidst a confrontation between two men.

The altercation escalated when one of the individuals involved drew a firearm and began shooting, inadvertently striking the bystanders who were part of a nearby group. Police arrived at the scene to find the woman with a gunshot wound to her right leg; she was immediately taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment.

This incident is part of a distressing pattern of violence in the Bronx, which saw two fatalities and eight injuries from shootings within the last week, including several incidents occurring within a span of 12 hours.
