Newark Issues Flood Warning Due to Rain and Thunderstorms

Road flooded - Use Caution, police advise alternate routes.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé has issued a traffic advisory due to today’s anticipated rainfall and thunderstorms, warning that many streets may flood and should be avoided by drivers.

Thunderstorms are expected to start after 2 p.m., with rain continuing into tomorrow morning.

The Department of Public Safety is prepared to coordinate responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions, and other weather-related incidents.

This effort will involve the combined use of Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management personnel.

To prevent potential hazards, special attention is advised to secure outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse, and building materials.
