2-Year-Old Boy Fatally Struck by Tram on Ocean City Boardwalk

OCEAN CITY, MD — A tragic accident on the Ocean City Boardwalk claimed the life of a 2-year-old boy Tuesday evening when he was struck by a tram near Dorchester Street.

The incident occurred around 8:14 p.m., according to the Ocean City Police Department. The young child was crossing the Boardwalk tram pad when a southbound tram struck him. Despite efforts, the boy died at the scene.

Both conductors of the tram remained on-site and are cooperating with the investigation. In response to the incident, Ocean City officials have suspended Boardwalk Tram operations until further notice.
