Woodbridge Man Arrested For Strangulation In Domestic Assault

Woodbridge, Va. – A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a domestic assault that occurred in Woodbridge last week. The suspect, identified as Angel Rivera, was taken into custody on August 21 following an investigation by local authorities.

The incident took place on August 15 at approximately 12:35 p.m. at a residence located in the 2900 block of Williamsburg Ct. According to police reports, Rivera and the victim, a 25-year-old woman, were involved in a verbal altercation that quickly escalated. During the confrontation, Rivera allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck, causing her to temporarily lose consciousness. The two eventually separated, and the victim later sought treatment for minor injuries before reporting the incident to the police.

Angel Rivera, who resides in the same block where the incident occurred, has been charged with strangulation and domestic assault and battery. He was arrested without incident on August 21.

As of now, a court date is pending, and bond information is unavailable.
