Columbus Police Seek Public’s Help in Homicide Investigation

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is requesting assistance from the public in identifying individuals involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on July 25, 2024. The incident took place around 2:15 p.m. at the Sunoco gas station located at 1690 S. High Street.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting and discovered the victim, Keshawn McDonald, outside 1577 S. High Street. According to multiple callers, McDonald was seen fleeing the scene on foot before he was shot. A second victim, who was driving a silver minivan, was also struck by gunfire while attempting to escape the area. This second victim is considered a witness to the homicide.

Police have described the suspects as two Black males who fled the scene in a black Lexus. The Columbus Division of Police has released images from surveillance footage, showing the silver minivan involved in the incident, as well as the black Lexus driven by the suspects.

Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding the identity of the second victim, who is a crucial witness, or the two suspects to come forward. Detective Jeremy Niederkohr is leading the investigation and can be reached at 614-645-4222 or via email at [email protected].
