STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Saturday, September 7, 2024, an off-duty New York City employee was arrested in the confines of the 120 Precinct in Staten Island. The individual, identified as 58-year-old Leonel Cruz, a New York City Correctional Officer, was taken into custody in the early hours of the morning, around 3:46 a.m.
Cruz now faces a series of serious charges, including Assault in the 2nd Degree with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, Menacing in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree with intent to cause physical injury, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree.
