Woman arrested in Alexandria after stolen truck alert

by Breaking Local News Report

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A 39-year-old woman was arrested last month after police recovered a stolen moving truck using License Plate Reader (LPR) technology, the Alexandria Police Department said.

The incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon when an officer patrolling the west side of the city received an LPR alert about a stolen truck from Fairfax County. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver without incident, police said.

The woman was charged with possession of the stolen vehicle, an outstanding felony warrant, and a warrant for failing to return the vehicle. Authorities also found suspected illegal drugs in her possession, leading to additional charges, including unauthorized use of a stolen vehicle and possession of a Schedule II narcotic.

The police department highlighted the effectiveness of LPR technology in recovering stolen vehicles and preventing crime. The investigation is ongoing.
