Philadelphia Cop Shot During June Traffic Stop in Kensington Dies

HARRISBURG, Pa.Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry expressed condolences Wednesday following the death of Philadelphia Police Officer Jaime Roman, who succumbed to injuries sustained during a traffic stop more than two months ago.

Officer Roman, a veteran of the force, was shot in the neck on June 22, 2024, while conducting a traffic stop in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. He passed away late Tuesday after a prolonged battle for his life.

“Today, I join Pennsylvanians and the communities in Philadelphia in mourning the loss of a veteran police officer,” Attorney General Henry said. “Officer Jaime Roman was doing his duty keeping the community safe and was fired upon without provocation in a completely senseless manner.”

Henry extended her “sincerest condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends” of Officer Roman, and expressed hope for “healing, resilience, and peace” for his loved ones after enduring a long period of uncertainty.

“May we stand together, humbled by his strength and sacrifice,” she added.
