Assault Incident in Downtown Pittsburgh Leads to Arrests

Pittsburgh, PA – On Tuesday at around 9 p.m., officers from the Downtown Public Safety Center were dispatched to an incident at Liberty Avenue and Stanwix Street following reports of a fight. Witnesses reported the altercation, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male lying on the ground, exhibiting multiple facial injuries including bruises, a large welt above an eye, and a cut lip. The victim experienced difficulty in breathing and speaking, leading to his transportation to the hospital by medics, where he was confirmed to be in stable condition.

A bystander’s video footage showed a group of approximately eight individuals aggressively kicking and stomping on the person, who was on the ground during the assault. Officers managed to locate two individuals, allegedly involved in the incident, near Triangle Park. The nature of the relationship between the suspects and the victim is currently unknown.

Robert Richard, aged 18, from North Versailles, and William Yarbrough, also 18, from Pittsburgh, have been arrested in connection with the crime. Both face charges of Aggravated Assault.
