Manhattan Resident Sentenced in Counterfeit Money Case

by Breaking Local News Report

Goshen, NY – A Manhattan woman, Carol Ntuli, has been sentenced in Orange County Court following her guilty plea to charges related to counterfeit currency. On Friday, September 27, Ntuli, aged 39, received a three to six-year prison sentence. She pled guilty to Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree.

Court documents and statements revealed that Ntuli executed counterfeit currency transactions at two stores in March. These incidents occurred in the Town of Wallkill and New Windsor. She was later apprehended wearing the same attire as seen during her criminal activities and admitted to her actions during police questioning. This plea marks Ntuli’s fifth felony conviction.

District Attorney David M. Hoovler acknowledged the work of the local police departments in Wallkill and New Windsor. Their investigations led to Ntuli’s arrest and subsequent conviction. Hoovler emphasized that even though counterfeit currency might seem victimless, it results in significant losses for retail businesses.

The case, prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Peter Fernandez, underscores the collaborative efforts in law enforcement to tackle fraudulent activities.
