Brick Township Man Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault Charges Involving Child

by Breaking Local News Report

Brick Township, NJ– Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer has announced that Christopher Budelman, aged 37, from Brick Township, has pled guilty to two counts of Sexual Assault. His plea was made on Friday before Judge Kenneth T. Palmer, J.S.C., and relates to incidents from June 2022. The State seeks a seven-year New Jersey State Prison term for each count, with the sentences running concurrently. Budelman will also face the conditions of Megan’s Law, Nicole’s Law prohibiting contact with victims, and Parole Supervision for Life.

The investigation began with a referral from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The Task Force identified someone uploading child pornography using the Kik Messenger App. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit traced the activity to a Verizon Wireless account owned by Budelman.

On September 27, 2022, law enforcement agencies, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit and the Brick Township Police Department, executed a search warrant at Budelman’s residence. They seized multiple electronic devices, discovering a desktop computer with child pornography images.
