Fire Investigation Leads to Charges in Monroe Township

Monroe Township, NJ – Monroe Township Police Department responded to a fire at a multi-unit residence on South Main Street Thursday. The incident occurred at approximately 5:17 AM.

Firefighters managed to contain the blaze, and the fire was considered suspicious by the fire marshal. The MTPD Detective Bureau, supported by fire marshal personnel, launched an investigation. By around 8:15 AM, a suspect was identified and apprehended.

Tobin N. Watson was charged with one count of arson under statute 2C:17-1b(2). It was also discovered that Watson was involved in a theft from a nearby business and was subsequently charged with one count of theft under statute 2C:20-3a. Watson is being held at Salem County Jail under outstanding warrants.
