Man assaulted with baton in attempted robbery in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 49-year-old man was assaulted in an attempted robbery in Brooklyn last month, police said. The incident occurred on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at approximately 5:55 p.m., near the intersection of 48th Street and 8th Avenue, within the confines of the 66th Precinct.

According to reports, the victim was approached by four unidentified individuals who demanded money. When the victim did not comply, one of the individuals struck him in the head with an expandable baton, causing a laceration.

The suspects fled the scene on foot, heading eastbound on 48th Street, without taking any property. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries and listed in stable condition.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
